6 EASY WAYS TO MAINTAIN BRAIN HEALTH - What are you choose to do when you are bored? there are plenty of options to do but sometimes it can harm your brain health; watching television, for example, too much-watching TV is not a wise choice, as it is a passive activity and does little to stimulate your brain.

You can eat, but eat what? You can play games, but is there a healthy way to maintain your brain health? These are some easy ways to maintain your healthy brain and keep it in shape.

  1. EAT BRAIN-HEALTHY FOODS
"You are what you eat," they said, food is your number one source of energy, so you probably want to choose wisely what you decide to eat and enter your system. But a diet based around fruits, vegetables, whole grains, healthy fats, and quality proteins can be beneficial to brain health.

Mediterranean or Japanese diet, for example, emphasizes plant-based food, fish, and healthy fats, such as olive oil. It incorporates much less read meat, sugar, and salt than a typical American diet.

  2. RELAX YOUR MIND AND REST YOUR BRAIN
We know that you need to control your mind, and everything starts with what you are thinking inside your head, which is the health of your brain as well. Try meditation, and breathing techniques, and get plenty of sleep, because rest and resting your brain plays an important role in your brain health, most of the cell regeneration happens while you sleep.

  3. PLAY BRAIN GAMES
Stimulates your brain with games, that a little bit forcing you to think, to remember, to form sort of winning strategies. Your brain is similar to a muscle - you need to use it or you lose it. There are many things that you can do to keep your brain sharp, such as playing brain games (Mahjong, Solitaire, Sudoku, or other online fun game like Pacman and Tennis), reading a book, or playing puzzles, that you can play in your free time.

One of my favorite to play is free online games at Solitaire.org, this is actually a classic game that you first play when you were in middle school maybe, at first I thought it was easy, but then it's quite a challenge. You can check on the website there are a bunch of online games you can play for free.

  4. STAY ACTIVE
Exercise regularly. When the pandemic hit, I bought a set of simple home workout equipment that I can use at home, such as; a yoga mat, barbell, even a new workout outfit, and new running shoes just to keep me motivated to work out and stay active, just to make the blood well circulate and regenerating in a healthy way.

Aim to exercise several times per week. After meditation, I usually do a simple morning yoga routine, or you can walk, swim, play tennis, or do any moderate body pump activity that increases your heart rate. I believe these working out have benefits to inviting oxygen in your system, resulting in increased blood flow to your brain during exercise. That's why sometimes you are a bit dizzy, there's blood flowing more than usual, so don't forget to do a warming up.

  5. REDUCE AND MANAGE YOUR STRESS WISELY
Definitely don't do junk food, cigarettes, or alcohol very often because it's not wise, you can do points 1-4 as your routines. If you only have a little time, open your laptop and play online games or read a book, if you have plenty of time, you can go out walking in nature.

The trend in my hometown, since we have a limited option for recreation, we can hire private tour guides and do private hiking, because we have a lot of reserved mountain areas and you can have family quality time for a day, or if it's not possible because of weather, a simple walk or bicycling that take 1-hour of your time also will do.

  6. MANAGE YOUR OVERALL HEALTH
Not only physically, but also mentally. Remain positive, remain socially involved, and gather a community, because social interaction (although we need to keep social distancing amid the pandemic) helps ward off depression and stress, both of which can contribute to your general health and memory loss.
