HOW TO MAINTAIN AN ATTITUDE AND ETHICS WHEN STAYING AT A FIVE STAR HOTEL

HOW TO MAINTAIN AN ATTITUDE AND ETHICS WHEN STAYING AT A FIVE-STAR HOTEL - So this is my answer on Quora which has been seen more than 100K times, about what should we avoid when we stay at a 5-star hotel to stay classy, there are lots of rules; spoken and unspoken. But the things I often realize is when people eat and when they check in or out from the hotel, sometimes the guests do not even think about it, so how to behave in a luxury hotel?

5-star hotels when they are in the peak season can sometimes be like markets, especially when many people gather in one place, for example at breakfast.

Indeed, there are 5-star hotels that offer breakfast facilities in the room, and although the food choices are not many, they provide more privacy than having to go to a restaurant.

Usually, the choice at breakfast is a buffet, a la carte, or a mixture of both, so apart from the buffet, you can also order a la carte, usually the "special of the day" menu can both be taken and ordered as much as you like.

Because at breakfast it is likely that everyone will be in the restaurant, it is recommended to be patient because you will definitely get it, the food will be refilled if it looks like there is a little left at the station.

1. TAKE FOOD AS NEEDED

Take food as needed, don't go crazy, take this and if in the end a lot of leftover food is wasted, just take it a little at a time, if you want more, just take it again.

2. READ THE RULES AND ASK

Read a lot and ask questions, there is one story that I still remember when I was on the job training, we were given a 5-star hotel, and everyone was given a room, apparently, there was a friend from the area who thought that the mini bar in the room was free when checking out he was surprised to have paid hundreds of thousands of rupiah 😂. It doesn't matter a lot of questions, because the rules for each hotel are different, not all minibars have to be paid for, and some include inclusion.

3. CHECK-IN AND CHECK-OUT

Check-out time is usually around 12 noon, if you need a late check-out you can ask the front office, if available it can be given up to 1 or 2 hours, usually hotels also have a lounge for us to wait, for example, if we have a flight at 9 pm, we can still use hotel facilities but can't use the room anymore. If you need a longer check-out time, communicate with the FO staff, for hotels that use cards usually can't be used after check-out time, rather than going back and forth, it's better to just say.

Actually, the things above do not only apply in 5-star hotels, in any hotel we as guests should follow the hotel rules. Especially when it's breakfast time, there's no need to scramble and grab as much food as possible.

You can find the standard of operations the same anywhere as 5 Star Hotel Rules, however, Business and city hotels can have more strict rules, than luxury holiday resorts or even luxury private islands. Luxury resorts in Indonesia are probably different than luxury city hotels in Japan, you can be barefoot while enjoying your specially made Michelin star chef breakfast in Bawah Reserve private island, but maybe you can not even wear activewear & sneaker after a workout when you are in Tokyo.
