INTRODUCING THE LANESBOROUGH'S NEW CRUELLA INSPIRED AFTERNOON TEA

It’s A Little Bit Mad…

It’s out with the old, and in with the unexpected –
Introducing The Lanesborough’s new Cruella inspired afternoon tea

The Lanesborough Hotel, London, is delighted to announce the latest in its innovative series of seasonal afternoon teas: It’s A Little Bit Mad, inspired by Disney’s all-new live-action film Cruella.  Available from 28 May to 4 August 2021, the tea will pair one of London’s most beautiful dining settings under the naturally illuminated domed glass roof of Michelin-starred Céleste, with a striking, sophisticated black, red and gold-hued tea inspired by the glamorous pop-culture icon.

– Available throughout the summer, The Lanesborough’s new seasonal afternoon tea pays homage to Disney icon Cruella de Vil ahead of the new film release in the UK on 28 May 2021, with striking sculptural edible art

Set against the backdrop of 1970s London with hints of punk rock, Disney’s most notorious, super chic villain will be back on our screens in cinemas and on Disney+ with Premier Access for a one-time additional fee, with more attitude than ever, on 28th May.  Guests visiting The Lanesborough for tea can expect a stylish celebration of fashion and rebellion, blending traditional patisserie expertise with an unexpected, modern aesthetic that is utterly Instagrammable and “a little bit mad” – just like Cruella herself.  The hotel’s Head Pastry Chef, Kevin Miller has carefully crafted a limited-edition menu that, alongside the classic savoury sandwich favourites and a prawn and lobster tartlet, includes:

  • Out with the old, in with the unexpected – chocolate chip and dried cranberry scones baked square, served with clotted cream and strawberry jam served in individual glass vials
  • Anarchy Reigns – an anarchy Millionaire Shortbread presented on a mini artists easel
  • Runway Diva – a treacle tartlet with a whipped dulcey ganache garnished with Cruella’s iconic red lips and The Lanesborough’s emblematic crown
  • Fashion Makes Art Makes Fashion – a black-and-red chocolate and raspberry Battenberg cake with cranberry jam
  • Rebel Heart – a fragmented black heart with white chocolate feuillentine base, yoghurt raspberry mousse and a liquid hibiscus centre
  • Modern Masterpiece – a gold inside out lemon cheesecake with blueberry compote and a blackcurrant and violet sauce injection
  • Totally Unexpected – a red choux bun hat with caramelised banana and pecan nut crema

The Lanesborough has also created unique cocktail ‘The Scene Stealer’, available in alcoholic and non-alcoholic versions, that is fun, refreshing and perfect for spring and summer.  This fuses the new Bombay Bramble, a bold new gin with the 100% natural flavour of freshly harvested blackberries and raspberries, with freshly squeezed lemon juice, pure raspberry purée, maraschino cherry juice and simple syrup, topped with white apricot air foam and dry freeze blackberry dust.  To add dramatic effect, the cocktail is served at the table on a tray of dry ice.

The Lanesborough’s Cruella-inspired Afternoon Tea is priced from £55 per person (£72 with ‘The Scene Stealer’ cocktail; £74 with a glass of Champagne).  Children’s menu for children aged up to 12 years old from £25. Early reservation is strongly recommended.

ABOUT CRUELLA

Academy Award® winner Emma Stone (“La La Land”) stars in Disney’s “Cruella,” an all-new live-action feature film about the rebellious early days of one of cinemas’ most notorious – and notoriously fashionable – villains, the legendary Cruella de Vil. “Cruella,” which is set in 1970s London amidst the punk rock revolution, follows a young grifter named Estella, a clever and creative girl determined to make a name for herself with her designs. She befriends a pair of young thieves who appreciate her appetite for mischief, and together they are able to build a life for themselves on the London streets. One day, Estella’s flair for fashion catches the eye of the Baroness von Hellman, a fashion legend who is devastatingly chic and terrifyingly haute, played by two-time Oscar® winner Emma Thompson (“Howards End,” “Sense and Sensibility”). But their relationship sets in motion a course of events and revelations that will cause Estella to embrace her wicked side and become the raucous, fashionable and revenge-bent Cruella.

“Cruella" stars Emma Stone, Emma Thompson, Joel Fry, Paul Walter Hauser, Emily Beecham, Kirby Howell-Baptiste and Mark Strong. The film is directed by Craig Gillespie, with screenplay by Dana Fox and Tony McNamara, story by Aline Brosh McKenna and Kelly Marcel & Steve Zissis, based upon the novel “The One Hundred and One Dalmations” by Dodie Smith. “Cruella” is produced by Andrew Gunn, Marc Platt and Kristin Burr, p.g.a., with Emma Stone, Michelle Wright, Jared LeBoff and Glenn Close serving as executive producers.
